Shake Shack is to reopen two of its London locations for takeaway and delivery this week, having closed its entire UK estate last month in line with Government orders.

The US burger chain’s Tottenham Court Road site will open tomorrow (28 April); and its Canary Wharf restaurant will open on Thursday (30 April).

Both sites will be available for delivery via Deliveroo, with diners also be able to place takeaway orders at each respective site.

Strict social distancing measures, including floor markers, will be in place at both locations.

Other measures installed include face masks for all team members; contactless pick-up and delivery; and allocated pick-up zones for delivery riders.

Alongside the re-openings, Shake Shack says it is bringing back its emergency services offer, which is available to all social and community care workers, as well as NHS staff.

The offer entitles emergency service staff who order a burger to a second one, for free.

Shake Shack has also committed to delivering 1,000 free meals to NHS hospitals through its partnership with Deliveroo.

The last fortnight has seen a clutch of high street operators - including KFC, Burger King and Five Guys - begin to reopen select UK sites for both delivery and takeaway.

Over the weekend, rumours began circulating that McDonald’s was also preparing to reopen a portion of its estate for delivery and drive thru.

However, the fast food chain has since released a statement saying that it currently has no confirmed plans to reopen its sites.
