Deliveroo is partnering with supermarket chain Morrisons as it continues to diversify its offering to meet the needs of customers during the Coronavirus crisis.

Morrisons announced via social media yesterday (8 April) that 130 of its stores would be available to order from via the delivery platform. 

Shoppers can choose from around 70 items, including fruit, vegetables, meat and cupboard essentials.

“With families and vulnerable people in isolation, it is more important than ever that we make sure they have access to the essential household items they need,” says Ajay Lakhwani, vice president of new business at Deliveroo.

“During this worrying period we want to play our role in making sure people have access to a range of items, in particular the vulnerable who cannot leave their homes.”

Deliveroo has previously announced that it would introduce a ‘no-contact drop-off’ service in a bid to help drivers and customers adhere to social distancing measures during the Coronavirus crisis.

It has also worked to offer customers who are self-isolating more ways of purchasing essential food and household items.

Last month the platform partnered with BP and Marks & Spencer to offer a select range of M&S Food products including essentials such as milk and eggs. 

It has also rolled out its ‘Essentials by Deliveroo’ service to cities across the UK including Reading, London, Brighton, Nottingham, and Manchester.

The service is designed to offer easy access to essential household items such as pasta; rice; sweets and biscuits; soft drinks and juices; and tinned goods.
