UberEats is offering money-off vouchers to NHS staff working on the frontline of the Coronavirus crisis.

The delivery platform will make available 100,000 vouchers, each valued at £10, which can be claimed by anyone with an NHS email address and used to buy a meal from restaurants and convenience stores across the UK that are linked to the UberEats app.

Uber has also committed to offer 200,000 free trips through its ride-hailing service, to help NHS staff get to and from work.

"The incredible nurses, doctors and support staff of the NHS are doing heroic work at the forefront of this crisis, and everyone at Uber thanks them for their extraordinary efforts,” says Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.

“We hope we can help in a small way with meals and transportation as they work tirelessly day and night.”

NHS staff who want to learn more about accessing either promotion can click here. They will each be able to claim up to 10 rides and five meals per week.

Earlier today it was also reported that restaurant brands including Pizza Hut, German Doner Kebab, Itsu and Lewis Hamilton’s plant-based Neat Burger are working with rival delivery platform Deliveroo to serve free meals to NHS staff across the UK.

Deliveroo is aiming to deliver 500,000 free meals pledged by restaurant groups to hospital staff.

It has so far secured donations of 350,000 free meals from restaurants, and is working with partners for more donations.

Meanwhile, a number of major restaurant chains including Leon, Tortilla and Dishoom have joined forces with actors actors Helen McCrory, Damian Lewis and Matt Lucas to launch a crowdfund campaign aimed at helping to feed NHS staff working on the front line of the Coronavirus crisis.
