On Friday (20 March), Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered all restaurants, pubs and café across the UK to close as the country continued to accelerate its response to the Covid-19 Coronavirus outbreak.
However, restaurants are still allowed to operate as takeaway and delivery outlets, and many have adapted their trading model accordingly.
Last week, the Government relaxed the rules to allow restaurants and pubs to operate as hot food takeaways during the Coronavirus outbreak; previously, businesses needed to gain planning permission to do so.
Access Hospitality says it will provide a delivery or click-and-collect ordering service for restaurants that can be set-up within a 48-hour timeframe, and will cover the cost of all implementation fees.
The service will also be free to operators to use for the first two months, and will form the first phase of a 12-month contractual commitment.
“Many operators are turning their sites into ‘dark kitchens’, enabling them to offer a takeaway, click and collect or delivery option,” says Henry Seddon, managing director of Access Hospitality.
“This is providing a vital community service as well as avoiding business failure following compulsory closures.
“While switching operations to focus on collection or delivery will require a concerted effort, Access Hospitality is taking one element off their minds, by working with its partners QikServe and Preoday to provide an online website with order and pay capability and getting operators set up within 48 hours to help them get their new revenue stream up and running.”
