Cheltenham's KIBOUsushi is to open its first London restaurant next month.

The Japanese brand has taken on the former Bertie & Boo cafe on Battersea's Northcote Road, which will relaunch as 75-cover bar and restaurant KIBOU in early April.

Its menu will include ramen made with pork bone, chicken or vegan broth; katsu curry; steamed bao buns; donburi bowls; and handmade sushi and sashimi.

Diners will also be able to order KIBOU's signature Volcano roll - salmon, avocado and tobiko futomaki, tempura fried and served with house sauce.

A standalone bar will offer Japanese whisky, sake and beers, alongside bar snacks and platters.

KIBOU was founded by restaurateur Emma Graveney in 2013.

The Cheltenham restaurant was a finalist for Restaurant of the Year in the Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards 2018 and won UK Japanese Restaurant of the Year at the inaugural English Asian Food Awards in 2019.
