Vegan pizza restaurant Purezza is looking to triple the size of its estate this year.

The group, which currently operates a site in Brighton and another in London’s Camden, tells BigHospitality it is planning to open as many as four further pizzerias in the coming months.

While locations for the new restaurants are yet to be confirmed, Purezza says that as well as growing its presence in the capital, it will also be looking to establish further regional outposts.

Purezza serves a fully vegan menu of sourdough pizzas made with plant-based mozzarella that’s produced in-house.

Signature pizzas include ‘Parmigiana Party’ topped with smoked mozzarella, aubergine parmigiana, crumbled vegan sausage; and a dusting of nutritional yeast; and an ‘nduja’ one with mozzarella, green chillies, roasted aubergines, baby sweetcorn, red peppers, sriracha sauce and chilli flakes.

The announcement of its 2020 expansion plans follows the recent relaunch of Purezza’s Camden site, which was closed last month for a refit.

As part of the refurb the dining space was extended, with a larger bar area and a sheltered garden installed.

Purezza says the Camden restaurant is now three times the size it was originally, and will be ‘one of the biggest vegan restaurants in the UK’.

“Our flagship London restaurant has been struggling to keep up with demand throughout 2019,” says Purezza co-founder Tim Barclay.

“The single biggest complaint we receive is that it’s almost impossible to get a table most nights. It’s a good problem to have, but providing exceptional customer experiences is one of our core tenets at Purezza, and by tripling the size of our Camden restaurant we’ll be able to meet the demand.”

Purezza opened its debut site in Brighton in November 2015, which it claims to be the first vegan pizzeria in the UK.

It subsequently opened its second site, in Camden, in February 2018.
