Nico Simeone confirms London restaurant debut
The London opening, which was first mooted by BigHospitality back in November, marks the next stage in an astonishing expansion drive that has seen the group triple in the size over the last 12 months.
BigHospitality understands that Simeone has acquired the former Zizzi site on Charlotte Street with AG&G acting on the deal.
Speaking recently to BigHospitality, Simeone confirmed that Six by Nico London will follow the same formula as other sites, albeit with a slightly inflated price of between £33 and £35.
Six by Nico's concept revolves around a six-course tasting menu that changes every six weeks and is themed around different places, memories and ideas.
Simeone launched the first Six by Nico in Finnieston, Glasgow, in 2017, and subsequently opened a second site in Edinburgh the following year.
Last year, though, the chef expanded outside of Scotland, opening restaurants in Belfast, Manchester, and Liverpool in quick succession.
He further added to his tally in 2019 with the launch of his second Glasgow location, using part of the Southside space also used by the group as a development kitchen.
Simeone says he doesn’t intend to grow the group as aggressively in 2020, but does plan to explore the potential for opening a Six by Nico site in Dublin, as well as possibly looking for a second location in the capital.
Born in Glasgow to Italian parents, Simeone, who previously cooked at the Michelin-starred Number One at Balmoral, launched his debut restaurant 111 by Nico in Glasgow in 2015.
