Cult chicken restaurant Wingmans has chosen Soho for its second bricks and mortar restaurant.

Founders Ben Ford and David Turofsky have secured a site in an as-yet undisclosed ‘prime and well-known’ location in the area that will be considerably larger than their 55-cover debut in Kilburn, north London.

Expected to open in spring, the new site will serve the same wing-focused menu as the pair’s inaugural restaurant, which opened in June 2018 following Wingmans’ considerable success on the street food circuit.

Launched in 2015, Wingmans has had a presence at some of the UK’s biggest music festivals and picked up gongs at a number of street food competitions, including Wing Fest and the British Street Food Awards.

Wingmans selection of wings is eclectic, including Bang Coq (spring onion, ginger, pickle, coriander, Kewpie mayonnaise, crispy onions, toasted sesame); Jamaican ‘Me crazy (scotch bonnet, spring onions, ginger, coriander); and Raj Mahal (butter chicken, mango and curry leaf, crushed poppadom, coconut chutney, coriander).

Other menu items include chicken burgers and a selection of sides including truffle mac & cheese with beef short rib; and spicy Korean Cucumbers.

Ford has an eclectic cooking CV that includes Compass Group and won a number of cooking competitions while attending Westminster Kingsway catering college including London Chef of the Year and Chinese Masterchef. He has also represented the UK at the Culinary Olympics.

"Kilburn was a test platform and exceeded our exceptions. We never intended to take such a big site but when the opportunity came around it was difficult to say not to," says Turofsky, who has a background in nightclubs, bars and festivals.

"The layout and the look and feel was exactly how we’d envisaged Wingmans, the demographic is perfect and we think we'll fit in well with the other restaurants in the vicinity."
