Three Joes, the sourdough pizza chain founded by three hospitality industry veterans, has opened its first restaurant in the North of England.

The burgeoning group launched in the Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield late last year and plans to expand in Yorkshire if it is successful.

Sheffield is the third overall location for the brand, which was opened in Fareham and Winchester since 2017.

Three Joes is the brainchild of former Byron operations director Peter Bruton; Pod founder Tim Hall; and Emma Blackmore, who has consulted on menu development at chains including PizzaExpress, Zizzi and Ask Italian.

The group’s menu offers pizzas priced between £5 - £10, as well as sides such as macaroni cheese and Parmesan-topped potatoes.

Blackmore says: “We're just three average Joes. No venture capitalists or corporations or city investors. Just three people who love food.  We're proud to be an independent pizzeria and we're proud to open in Sheffield.”

Three Joes raised £491,000 on crowdfunding platform Crowdcube last year, but the team says the Sheffield restaurant has been funded by profits from its other two sites.

The Meadowhall restaurant is offering free pizza to the first 300 people to eat in the restaurant every Wednesday until 12 February.
