Plant-based fast food brand Halo Burger is to double up with a second London site set to open in Shoreditch later this month.

It marks the start of founder Ross Forder’s plan to expand the concept across the UK, in a bid to 'accelerate the popularity and availability of plant-based meats'.

Halo Burger launched its first site in POP Brixton back in November 2018, serving a menu of burgers made with Beyond Meat patties instead of beef; and sides that include fries topped with melted vegan cheese, ‘signature’ sauce and caramelised onions.

“We can’t wait to bring our incredible menu to Shoreditch,” says Forder.

“Making plant-based meat alternatives widely available is our mission and opening a new site is just the beginning of our plan to expand across the nation.

“The appetite for plant-based food has surged, with over 350,000 people signing up to do Veganuary by January 4th, breaking all previous records.

“Halo Burger is here for when you’re in need of something comforting and familiar, to satisfy vegans and meat-eaters new and old in January and beyond.”

In the last year the plant-based burger market has snowballed, particularly in London.

Notable operators to have recently set up shop include Neil Rankin’s Simplicity Burger, which is also located in Shoreditch; and the Lewis Hamilton-backed Neat Burger in Mayfair, which made its debut in September last year with an eye to opening more than 100 sites internationally in the next five years.
