Cochran launched GOAT at Croydon Boxpark in August last year, just a few months after first establishing the concept at Lewisham’s Model Market.
However, the Boxpark unit has now been vacated by GOAT and its website is no longer active.
Cochran used goat in his main dish on Great British Menu, which he won in 2018, and subsequently introduced it to the menu at his 12:51 restaurant in Islington, which opened the same year.
Its popularity led the chef to develop the street food concept, which centred on barbecue Jamaican jerk spiced shoulder of goat served on a flatbread, with a choice of sauces and toppings. The GOAT menu also featured goat nuggets served with Cochran’s 12:51-branded scotch bonnet jam; and smashed potatoes with curry sauce.
The Croydon restaurant is the second short-lived venture from Cochran. The chef opened a restaurant in Islington’s Angel Shopping Centre in 2017 but closed it after just a few months, stating that it had been a pop up, although there was no mention of this at the time.
He previously ran the James Cochran EC3 restaurant in The City, which continued to trade under his name after he left in early 2018. The site has since closed.
