City of London-based fast casual chain HộP Vietnamese has launched a public crowdfunding campaign after raising more than £830,000 from existing investors and customers.

Founder Paul Hopper is hoping to reach a stretch target of £1.5m via an equity crowdfunding campaign with Crowdcube.

HộP Vietnamese plans to use the cash to open around 20 new sites in the next four to five years as well as implement a national rollout of dark kitchens.

The brand also says it is in negotiations with one of the country’s leading concessions operators to open a number of sites within UK transport hubs.

HộP’s investors include a number of sector veterans, including Martin Robertson, former chairman of Wagamama and Center Parcs and current chairman of Burger King as well as Andrew Walker, former Managing Director of Pret a Manger and EAT.

Last year, HộP Vietnamese brought in Josh Wyse as co-managing director, who has held roles with Nestlé and Häagen-Dazs and more recently consulted for restaurant brands including Dishoom and Franco Manca.

Founded in 2014, HộP Vietnamese currently operate five sites in the City, including a flagship site at the bottom of the Leadenhall Building, also known as The Cheese Grater.

“We see a huge opportunity in front of us to make HộP a nationally-loved brand in a sector that is only going in one direction,” says Hopper. “We’ve achieved a lot in a short space of time and we can’t wait for more of our customers and the Crowdcube investor base joining the likes of Martin Robertson and Andrew Walker as part of our shareholder community,”
