Purchased by the famous broadcaster in 2005, the pub won a Michelin star in 2010 and held it for eight years.
It is also a regular on the Top 50 Gastropubs list, currently ranking at 26.
"Over the years the Oak has hosted celebrity musicians and actors, held the highest accolades including a Michelin star, hosted the Queen, other Royals, the Prime Minister and the President of France," says Nick, who has been at the helm since his father acquired the pub.
"The Oak has helped develop the careers of many a chef and front of house member; spring boarding some to celebrity status. It has been an unbelievable journey and it is with a heavy heart that I have made this decision but an opportunity has arisen for me and my wife that would make it near impossible to carry on with the Oak"
The kitchen has been headed up by a number of high profile chefs including Dominic Chapman. The current head chef is Matt Samson.
The lease of the pub is on the market with property agent Davey Co for a premium of £195,000 and a current rent of £70,000 a year.
Annual net turnover is in the region of £700,000.
The pub is tied to Fuller’s Brewery and is described by the agent as 'exquisitely presented' and with a 'top draw rural village location'.
