The new site, secured by Restaurant Property, will be 1,861sq ft and have room for 50 covers.
“Customers who were queuing at our Piccadilly restaurant have often requested another one,” says Yori founder Jong Soon Kim on the expansion.
“Covent Garden is the heart of London and I decided to open here because it is a location that can target different customers to Piccadilly."
Yori, which currently operates restaurants in Piccadilly and Wimbledon, was founded by Kim in 2016.
Group executive chef Park Junchul will oversee the menu, which features a variety of traditional Korean foods ‘reinterpreted’ in a modern way.
Meat cuts available from the barbecue will include pork or beef bulgogi marinated in a house sauce; ox tongue; and squid.
Other dishes include stir-fried Korean glass noodles with vegetables; pan-fried Korean dumplings; and a spring onion pancake served with a mixed seafood selection.
“Catherine Street is the perfect location for Yori, introducing Korean barbecue not just to theatre goers, but the whole Covent Garden community,” adds Daniel Rogers, surveyor at Restaurant Property.
Kim’s other business interests include Japanese restaurant Nori; Korean dessert café Cake & Bingsoo; and Japanese dessert café Café Mori.
