Anatolian-style restaurant to open in the City

An all-day Anatolian-style restaurant and bar concept is to open in Finsbury Avenue Square, in the City, early next year.

Baraka, the name of which is said to relate to an old wooden home where people socialise, live and eat in Turkish, will be set within a listed building adjacent to Liverpool Street station.

The restaurant will include an elevated bar area and outdoor terrace, with the interior design featuring a colour palate of sea blues, terracotta and charcoal.

There will also be an open kitchen with an open-flame Mangal grill.

Baraka’s menu will be created from recipes sourced from across the Ottoman Empire, combining locally-sourced produce with ingredients found along the Silk Route.

The main menu will feature mezza plates of hummus with lamb, pine kernels and mixed herbs; hand rolled pastry filled with feta cheese and herbs; and 12-hour marinated aubergine with mixed pepper and onion. baked in tomato sauce.

Grill options will include a selection of meats such as 24-hour marinated chicken or lamb shish, served with yoghurt, tomato sauce and home-made bread.

The menu will also feature a dish of slow-braised shoulder of lamb tagine, served on the bone with prunes, apricots, almonds and rice.

Desserts, meanwhile, will include home-made baklava served with rose and Turkish delight ice cream.
