Rosa’s Thai Cafe founders Alex and Saiphin Moore have acquired the Ceviche restaurant group following a management led buy-out deal.

The Peruvian restaurant group, which owns six sites under its Ceviche and Andina brands, filed an administration notice last month following an “incredibly tough” 18 months of trading.

Three sites will continue to operate as part of the deal, including the original Ceviche restaurant in Soho; Andina in Shoreditch; and Casita Andina, also in Soho.

Staff from the three closed sites – which includes a Ceviche, and an Andina bakery in Notting Hill; as well as further Ceviche restaurant on Old Street – have reportedly all been offered other roles within the business.

Ceviche’s managing director Raquel De Oliveira will also remain in her role, and will be supported by Alex and Saiphin as she looks to stabilise the business.

“Saiphin and I are incredibly excited about this opportunity as we have been fans of the Ceviche brand for years,” says Alex.

“We are looking to put a significant amount of time and resource in to supporting Raquel and to do so we have chosen to temporarily close our other venture Hoh Sek Noodles.”

Martin Morales, who founded the group in 2011, will no longer be employed by the company, but will act as a brand ambassador.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I step away from the business I created and love dearly, but know I am leaving it in Raquel’s very capable hands,” says Morales.

“She’s been with me on this journey from day one, and has so much passion for both Ceviche and Andina brands.

“I’m excited about what lies ahead and I am sure with Alex and Saiphin’s support, she can help grow the business, despite the challenging and uncertain economic times we are currently in.”
