The Connaught Grill to reopen in Mayfair after 20 years
The Connaught Grill is to return to London's luxury Connaught Hotel after a 20-year hiatus.

The restaurant will reopen in early 2020, with chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten at the helm.

The original Grill was one of the capital’s most legendary restaurants during its original run from 1955 – 2000.

Vongerichten will help launch a ‘modern interpretation’ of the restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel, featuring a 46-cover dining room, open kitchen, wood-burning grill and rotisserie.

The chef, who will also continue to run his eponymous restaurant at The Connaught, will create a menu focusing on British produce, including Dover sole and game, with seasonal vegetable dishes and a ‘Daily Special’ menu.

The classic ‘Oeuf en surpise au Connaught’ dish is also set to return.

“Ever since we started the project of restoring The Connaught way back in 2008, I have dreamt of breathing life back into The Connaught Grill, a mythical restaurant that somehow captures a special place in guests’ hearts,” says Paddy McKillen, co-owner of The Connaught Grill.

“We are bringing the Grill back to be discovered by a new generation, a Connaught Grill of today not yesterday, using craftsmen and chefs of today, but with the spirit and old school charm of the legendary Connaught Grill.”

The hotel is also home to the two-Michelin-starred Helene Darroze at The Connaught restaurant.

The Connaught is part of The Maybourne Hotel Group, which also includes Claridge’s and The Berkeley.
