A food hall with up to ten independent traders is to open in the historic Shelter Hall on Brighton seafront next summer.

The project will be run by Sessions Market, a new company led by former Deliveroo managing director Dan Warne and restaurant industry veteran Graham Turner.

It will feature independent Brighton and Hove-based operators including ‘restaurants, street food vendors and up and coming chefs from the city’.

The hall will have seating for over 250 diners, with two bars on the upper and lower levels run by Sessions Market.

The Rotunda, on the street level, will be taken by Brighton champagne and oyster bar Riddle & Finns, which has traded in the city for nearly 14 years.

"Sustainability, community and local philanthropy are at the centre of our business model,” says Warne.

“With a local team on board, community partnerships already in place and a financial model set to give back to the community, we say roll on 2020!”

Shelter Hall has been undergoing a multi-million-pound redevelopment over the past two years as part of a wider investment in the seafront by Brighton and Hove City Council.

Plans for the project include space to run live music, art groups and film screenings, and all vendors will be encouraged to source ingredients from local Sussex producers.

Sessions Market is financed by food and drink industry investor Imbiba, which has also backed Vagabond, Farmer J and Temper.
