- Richard Caring has sold a 25% share of his hospitality empire Caprice Holdings to the former prime minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, for £200m. The deal could help fund further expansion of the business, which includes The Ivy and Sexy Fish restaurants.
- The British boss of McDonald's has been fired after he had a consensual relationship with a colleague. Steve Easterbrook, who took over as CEO in 2015, admitted his actions had been in 'poor judgement'.
- Steakhouse chain Gaucho has unveiled its future vision for the business, including changes to the restaurant design, introduction of a Beef Bar, and cinema screen. The debut 'Gaucho 2.0' will be its original UK restaurant in Mayfair, which relaunches on 9 December before changes are rolled out across the group.
- Aktar Islam, chef director at Michelin-starred Birmingham restaurant Opheem, is joining forces with the team behind Craft Dining Rooms to open a new restaurant and garden terrace in the city.
- The brothers behind The Marram Grass in Anglesey will name their upcoming Liverpool restaurant Lerpwl, the Welsh name for the city. Ellis and Liam Barrie will open the site in Albert Dock early next year.
