Selin Kiazim’s Kyseri to become Turkish bakery
The as yet unnamed concept will launch in early 2020 and will see chef Kiazim ‘pursue her long-time personal passion for Turkish baking, complemented by Christie’s love of wines from the same region’.
“After a year and a half of making Fitzrovia our home for Kyseri we have taken the decision to move in a different direction,” says Kiazim of the upcoming closure.
“We love the location and space of Kyseri, our customers and the neighbourhood we’ve gotten to know, and so with an exciting new project up our sleeve we’re sticking to recent roots and will re-open on our existing site. We’re looking forward to sharing these last few months with our customers as we say farewell to Kyseri.”
Kyseri launched in June last year with a menu that showcased cuisine from the ancient Turkish city Kayseri.
Dishes include beef and sour cherry manti (with yoghurt sauce, tomato, chilli butter and pine nuts); roasted mushroom and cheese manti (served in smoked butter, honey and mint); Cypriot hellim loaf with black sea fondue; and lamb sweetbreads with braised garlic, hazelnut yoghurt and brown butter.
The pair also run Oklava, which launched in Shoreditch in 2015 and opened a second site earlier this year close to Kyseri at Centre Point’s Arcade Food Theatre.
