Rosa's Thai Cafe to open third regional location
The Thai restaurant group has submitted a licencing application to take on a site in the city’s Deansgate area previously occupied by Handmade Burger Co, which closed last month after five years of trading.
It will mark the next stage in the group’s northern expansion, and follows openings in Liverpool and Leeds earlier this year.
The 60-cover restaurant will feature dishes including tofu in tamarind sauce; larb chicken salad; drunken noodles; and massaman curry.
Founded by Thai Chef Saiphin Moore and husband Alex in 2007, Rosa’s sold a majority stake in its business to private equity firm TriSpan last year, after being ranked as one of the top three fastest growing restaurant chains in the MCA/AlixPartners Growth Company Index 2017.
The group is also continuing to grow its London estate, with the launch of its new Clapham restaurant due for early next month.
It will bring Rosa’s total restaurant tally to 18.
“We’ve spent a long time trying to find the right site to open a Rosa’s Thai Cafe in Manchester and [the Deansgate site] felt like the ideal location for us,” says Saiphin on the Manchester opening.
“We’re really looking forward to becoming part of the city’s vibrant food and drink scene, and have a lot of plans for this restaurant which will set it apart from our Rosa’s in London.”
