Duddell's closes London Bridge restaurant
As first reported by Eater London, the restaurant shut today blaming issues with its site in the historic St Thomas' Church.
The development team is on the lookout for a new location in Mayfair, with a further announcement expected in “due course”.
A spokesperson for Duddell's says in a statement: “The closure of the London Bridge space comes as a result of continued planning challenges with the landlord and technical difficulties related to the Grade II listed church, which has prevented Duddell’s from fully realising its authentic Cantonese culinary vision.”
The London site was the first UK opening for the Duddell’s brand, which is run by Hong Kong’s JIA Group, and was given a positive reception by several national critics when it launched in 2017.
JIA runs two locations under the brand in Hong Kong, a casual airport site and a Michelin-starred restaurant.
