Trade body UKHospitality has partnered with the Tourism Alliance to publish a joint guidance report for the hospitality and tourism sectors in the event of a no-deal Brexit.

The 13-page paper is designed to advise tourism and hospitality employers on a range of issues including the impact of no deal on the UK’s hospitality and tourism workforce; the potential disruption it will cause to supply chains; and food labelling guidelines in the event of a no-deal Brexit.

At present the UK is due to leave the EU on 31 October with or without a deal, although recent changes to legislation have arguably made the latter prospect less likely.

“We are now less than three weeks from the scheduled withdrawal from the EU and, as it stands, we are leaving without a deal,” says UKHospitality CEO Kate Nicholls, who is also chair of the Tourism Alliance.

“Much can change in the coming days and weeks, but it is absolutely vital that businesses leave nothing to chance and prepare as comprehensively as possible.

“Our guidance is being made available to all our members and non-members, to make sure that everybody is up to speed and prepared for Brexit.”

UKHospitality will also be holding a webinar on Thursday 17 October for its members and the wider hospitality sector, giving businesses an opportunity to raise questions and prepare ahead of the scheduled exit date.
