A grab and go Middle Eastern concept is set to open on the former Oliver Maki site in Soho early next month.

Arma says it will ‘aim to breathe new life into the shawarma with a high quality, great value offering.

The restaurant’s emphasis will be on offering authentic flavours, with the meats marinated in a mixture of herbs and spices overnight before being cooked slowly on a vertical spit.

Beef and chicken shawarma will be served in a traditional flatbread with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, pickled cucumbers, herb dressing and garlic sauce.

There will also be falafel made in house daily, served in a wrap with tabbouleh, pickled turnips, fresh parsley, mint, and garlic sauce.

All dishes will also be available as salad bowls; sides include fries topped with chicken or beef and chilli sauce; and for dessert there will be Middle Eastern date cake.

The Dean Street restaurant will be set over two floors, with counter seating on the ground floor and tables available upstairs.

High-end sushi chain Oliver Maki closed its only UK site in Soho in summer 2018 with CEO Joe Hajjali saying at the time that the restaurant would relaunch in another central London location. More than a year on, however, the brand is yet to reopen in the capital.
