BrewDog, Deliveroo and Costa Coffee have topped a list of the UK’s fastest growing brands.

The trio are rising stars in the 2019 BrandZ Top 75 Most Valuable Brands report, announced yesterday by WPP and Kantar.

The annual list is compiled using Bloomberg financial data and the opinions of over 120,000 consumers to determine the value of a brand to the company it represents.

Deliveroo was named the fastest growing brand after its value increased 54% to £1.1bn, securing 50th position in the overall rankings.

Costa came in second place, jumping 48% to a £1.2bn valuation and 47th spot, buoyed by its sale to Coca Cola in August 2018.

The third fastest riser was BrewDog, which was described as having a ‘unique identity that helps it stand out from the crowd’. The brewer and bar operator’s value rose 40% to £1bn and saw it take 57th place.

Rounding out the top five fastest growing brands were two other food and drink companies, Ocado (+35% to £1.6bn) and Innocent (+35% to £1.1bn).

“Consumers perceive the fastest-growing UK brands as innovative and dynamic, with a sense of momentum and a clear point of difference," says David Roth, CEO of the Store WPP EMEA and Asia and Chairman on BrandZ.

"They have built strong emotional connections and have great communicative power to tell their story. However, to keep up with accelerated growth of other global brands these brands must now work to build on their strengths and continue to deliver a fantastic customer experience, one of the key drivers of success for disruptive brands.”

The overall top 10 most valuable UK brands were dominated by telecoms and energy providers, with Vodafone, HSBC, Shell, BP and BT making up the top five.
