Making the announcement on social media, Oren said he was very excited to announce the opening of his eponymous debut restaurant.
“I will be opening my first solo restaurant @orenlondon later in October,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I’ve been looking for a site for some time now and this charming spot in Shacklewell Lane, Dalston has come up.
“I will cook food that is inspired from my home and the Mediterranean using local and sustainable produce alongside a thoughtful wine list selected by my friend @bittenwritten.”
Israeli-born Oren, who moved to the UK in 2011 and previously oversaw the kitchen at Louie Louie in central London, ran a three-month residency last year at Borough Wines Kensal Rise.
The menu there changed regularly and featured dishes including lamb sweetbreads with za’atar and lemon; roast quail with baharat and green harissa; and shawarma-style Cornish mackerel pitas.
Discussing the menu for his new restaurant on his Instagram page, Oren wrote: “You can expect an extensive, changing menu and eventually I’ll be offering dinner, lunch and a truly unique brunch.”
