The final 20 restaurant sites that traded as part of the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group have now all been sold following the group’s collapse earlier this year, with Indian restaurant group Dishoom and Richard Caring’s The Ivy Collection among the buyers.
Nordic restaurant Borealis has closed its doors little more than a year after it opened, with owner Soren Jessen and chef Robin Freeman both departing the project. Co-working space developer Fora will continue to manage the site, and plans to reposition the restaurant to provide a more informal offering.
BigHospitality's sister site MCA has reported that Homeslice Pizza founder Ry Jessup has left the business, and is now working as a freelance chef and restaurant consultant. Earlier this year Homeslice hired Werner Botha, formerly of Bill’s, as head of operations.
Luxury retailer Harrods is continuing to push ahead with large-scale investment in its food and beverage operation, and has announced it is to open its first standalone café in Market Place, Henley, this October.
Following the launch of its debut UK site in London’s Notting Hill, US-based casual dining brand Eggslut is looking to open around 10 restaurants in the UK in the coming years with the brand currently looking at London locations such as Shoreditch and Soho, as well as a site in Edinburgh.
