Less than a month after it had to close its flagship Hoxton restaurant, Jewish deli specialists Monty’s Deli has confirmed it is to launch a further market site in London.

The group, which continues to operate sites at Market Halls Victoria and Old Spitalfields Market, will be one of the operators at KERB’s Seven Dials Market in Covent Garden when it launches next month.

According to the Evening Standard, Monty’s new site will boast new menu items including open-faced bagels, as well as continuing to sell the deli’s famous Reuben salt beef sandwiches and New York-style egg creams.

It’s also been announced that sustainable seafood brand Claw, which recently closed its restaurant on Kingly Street in Soho, is due to set up shop at Seven Dials Market.

Housed within the 19th century Thomas Neal’s Warehouse, Seven Dials Market will be KERB’s sixth street food market and its first bricks and mortar location, with traders including Club Mexicana, Yum Bun and Square Root also among the line-up.

Starting out life as a market stall, Monty’s Deli was founded in 2012 and launched the Hoxton site as its first bricks and mortar location in 2017 following a successful £50,000 crowdfunding campaign.

It opened the smaller Spitalfields unit in 2018, followed by a spot at the Victoria food hall after crowdfunding a further £215,000 on Crowdcube.

Co-owner Owen Barratt told BigHospitality's sister site MCA earlier this year that the team were “still figuring out” their future plans for the group, but were planning changes to the Hoxton site to make it more retail-focused.

He added that the team were hoping to open restaurants in west and south London to serve as flagships.
