Humpit Hummus is to open four further sites as it prepares to expand outside of its Northern heartland for the first time and grow the brand both nationally and internationally.

The humus and pitta bar concept is opening in central Brighton later this month, in the city’s recently launched Hanningtons Estate development.

Serving a menu of pittas and salads available to order with both falafel and hummus, the brand, which started out life as a street food vendor in Leeds back in 2014, is largely targeted at university students with sites in Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle and Edinburgh’s university union.

It is also due to add another three university locations to its tally in the coming months, with two London sites in Royal Holloway and Westminster due to open in September, and another in Northampton slated for October.

The Brighton Humpit Hummus will be the brand’s ninth opening, and its first to operate outside the North of England and Scotland.

“This is such a vibrant city to be part of and the perfect base for us to start spreading the hummus love across the South of England,” says co-founder Jonathan Philips of the Brighton launch.

“We have just signed a deal with the National Union of Students to open up more stores within Universities and will also be opening our first store outside the UK next year.”
