Morty & Bob’s to launch offshoot sandwich bar
It will sit alongside restaurants including Bleecker Burger and Pizza Pilgrims at the West London shopping centre, which is in the process of revamping its food offering.
Having begun as a street food operation, Morty & Bob’s operates a café and bar at Coal Drops Yard having previously had a site at Hackney’s Netil House.
Alongside its sandwiches, it serves small dishes including the likes of parmesan truffle fries; and minute rib eye steak with house hash brown and a fried egg.
This new offshoot, however, will focus solely on sandwiches and include the brand’s Insta-famous grilled cheese served ‘straight up’ with mixed onions; or with mushroom and truffle.
New additions to the menu, meanwhile, will include a slow-roasted porchetta sub with house slaw, salsa verde and gravy drizzle; popcorn shrimp brioche roll with dressed crispy salad; and a brunch bun with crispy smoked streaky bacon, smashed avocado, soft scrambled egg, shoestring fries and mushroom ketchup.
The opening marks another addition to London’s ever-growing premium sandwich sector, which recently saw the launch of Sub Cult’s first bricks and mortar site close to St Paul’s.
Sons and Daughters, a new sandwich bar and cocktail concept by Pidgin duo James Ramsden and Sam Herlihy, is expected to join Morty and Bob’s in Coal Drops Yard this September.
