Yard Sale Pizza to open fifth site
Yard Sale Pizza is to open its fifth London site - it’s biggest to date - in September, on the site that was formerly Bad Sports in Hackney.

The two-storey space will feature high seating and leather booths, with an open kitchen displaying its pizza oven on the ground floor while below there will be a small bar and flexible space for 32, either dining in or for private hire.

It will open from midday for the first time, and heralds the introduction of a new calzone menu, with Cobble Lane cured meat, veggie and vegan calzones available at lunchtimes only. Yard Sale’s signature pizzas, including the ‘Holy Pepperoni’; the ‘TSB’ with Tenderstem broccoli, parmesan, pine nuts, garlic and olive oil; and the vegan ‘Herb Your Enthusiasm’ with grilled artichokes, olives, red onion, and salsa verde, will also be on the menu accompanied by a selection of homemade dips, salads, and sides such as its cheese and marmite garlic bread. Desserts will be Happy Endings ice cream sandwiches.

Yard Sale was launched in Clapton in 2014 by Jonnie Tate, Dan Spinney and Nick Buckland, and now operates London restaurants in Finsbury Park, Walthamstow, and Leytonstone. The Hackney Road location will be the company’s biggest opening yet.

Investor Paul Campbell joined Yard Sale Pizza as a non-executive director at the beginning of the year. Yard Sale co-founder Johnnie Tate said at the time that Campbell would help steer the business on its next stage of growth, with one or two sites planned for this year.
