Monty's Deli to close flagship Hoxton restaurant
In a post shared across social media the team say they are “truly sorry” to be shutting the restaurant, which will run its final service on 28 July.
The group’s smaller units at Market Halls Victoria and Old Spitalfields Market will remain open as usual.
“We do have some exciting projects for the summer that are in the works and we will be announcing them soon,” the team wrote.
“In the meantime we hope that lots of you will be able to make it over to Hoxton for one last goodbye over the next few weeks.”
Monty’s Deli started out as a market stall in 2012 and launched the Hoxton site as its first bricks and mortar location in 2017 following a successful £50,000 crowdfunding campaign.
The group opened the smaller Spitalfields unit in 2018, followed by a spot at the Victoria food hall after crowdfunding a further £215,000 on Crowdcube.
Co-owner Owen Barratt told BigHospitality's sister site MCA earlier this year that the team were “still figuring out” their future plans for the group, but were planning changes to the Hoxton site to make it more retail-focused.
He added that the team were hoping to open restaurants in west and south London to serve as flagships.
