Slim Chickens opens fourth UK site
Opening within Birmingham’s Grand Central shopping centre, the new Slim Chickens site is the fast-casual chain’s fourth to open in the UK since BRG brought it to market last year.
As with its other sites, Slim Chickens Birmingham specialises in serving signature hand-breaded chicken tenders alongside a selection of homemade sauces.
Earlier this year BRG opened its third Slim Chickens location on the site formerly occupied by the original Ed’s Easy Diner restaurant in London’s Soho.
It also operates two further sites in London’s Marylebone and the Welsh capital of Cardiff, both of which opened in 2018.
BRG, which also owns the Giraffe and Harry Ramsden chains, acquired 33 Ed’s Easy Diner sites in 2016 for an undisclosed sum after the chain fell into administration.
Only 17 Ed’s sites remain after BRG shut further restaurants this year when Giraffe Concepts, which includes Ed’s and Giraffe’s, entered into a Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA).
In November it was reported by BigHospitality's sister site MCA that BRG had also submitted plans to convert Ed’s in Liverpool to the Slim Chickens concept, with the group planning to eventually roll out the chain to other cities across the UK.
Slim Chickens was founded in Fayetteville, Arkansas by Tom Gordon and Greg Smart in 2003 and currently operates more than 80 sites across the US.
