L’Atelier Du Vin to open second Brighton bar

Wine bar and cocktail and concept L’Atelier Du Vin is to open a second Brighton site in the city’s Seven Dials area later this week.

It replaces sustainable burger restaurant Coggings and Co, which was launched by former hotelier and gastropub owner Andrew Coggings in 2014 and closed last year.

The new L’Atelier site will be larger than the current 25-seat bar it operates on St George’s Place, with 45 covers and a large kitchen space downstairs that will be used to host pop-events with chefs from Brighton and beyond commencing in September.

As with the St George’s Place site the primary focus will be on the drinks list, which is inspired by the Burgundy region of France and set to include more than 800 wines, 350 spirits, and 200 champagnes.

It will also serve a selection of cheese and charcuterie to complement the wine, with the menu including charcoal cheddar, Parma ham and wild boar salami.

Replicating the ‘bootlegger bar’ style of its original site, the interior of L’Atelier Du Vin Seven Dials will feature exposed brickwork, vintage furnishings and low lighting.

The brand originally launched in the North Laine’s Kensington Gardens in 2018, before moving to a less prime location just down the road on St George's Place earlier this year.

Its original location was subsequently taken by Trading Post Coffee Roasters.
