Designed by D&D chairman and CEO Des Gunewardena and entrepreneur Dominika Sadowska, The Workroom will be available from 10 June and is described as offering ‘freelance office solutions for modern professionals’.
Those who use the app will able to use it to book a table, booth or bar space that will serve as their office for the day at one of five selected D&D restaurants, with individual day passes costing £10 and multiple pass bundles available at a reduced rate.
The five D&D locations initially offered on the app are 100 Wardour St in Soho, Bluebird Chelsea and White City, Fiume in Battersea, and Islington’s Radici restaurant.
“There’s been a big shift in the way Londoners operate day-to-day,” says Gunewardena.
“I’ve certainly noticed more people using our restaurant spaces to work in and while other operators are trying to combat that, we thought why not embrace it?”
Each Workroom location will offer Wi-Fi, an abundance of plug sockets, and complimentary tea, coffee and water.
D&D currently operates 41 restaurants worldwide, including 36 in the UK.
Last year Gunewardena told BigHospitality the company would focus on expansion in the US and mainland Europe if Brexit made it more difficult to open restaurants in the UK.
