Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng, the Portuguese-Chinese couple behind the long-running and well-received pop-up TÁ TÁ Eatery, are to launch an all-day dining concept in the capital following the launch of their first permanent venture in Shoreditch earlier this week.

TÓU will serve sandos, a Japanese sandwich typically made with breaded chicken or pork, with the location set be confirmed next week.

This week Gonçalves and Meng are also launching TĀTĀ Eatery at Tayēr + Elementary in partnership with globally recognised bartenders Alex Kratena and Monica Berg, at the multifaceted Tayēr + Elementary bar near Old Street roundabout. Sando sandwiches feature on the menu there too.

At TÓU, diners will be able to order TÁ TÁ Eatery’s ‘iconic’ Iberian Katsu Sando with breaded Iberico pork and shredded cabbage, along with a number of new sando options that have yet to be announced.

There will also be a selection of rice bowls that pay heed to TÁ TÁ Eatery’s original menu, with options set to be limited to 4-5 choices in order to ‘help on-the-go customers make efficient choices’.

TÁ TÁ Eatery started life as a street food stall on Druid Street market in Bermondsey and has undertaken several high-profile residencies, including at James Knappett’s Fitzrovia restaurant Kitchen Table and Curio Cabal on Kingsland Road.

Prior to launching TÁ TÁ Eatery, both Gonçalves and Meng worked under Portuguese chef Nuno Mendes at his now-closed Viajante restaurant.
