Bristol-based group Bocabar is to open its third restaurant later this year, at Bristol's Finzels Reach development.

The all-day restaurant will have 70 covers, and has been designed to have an ‘eclectic feel’ with velvet drapes in the doorways, vintage lamps, reclaimed wood and copper features.

Menu options are set to include 25 different stone-baked pizzas, as well as gourmet burgers, sharing mezze plates and daily specials that focus on using seasonal ingredients.

Bocabar will be based on the ground floor of the city’s historic Fermentation Buildings, which has been home to several famous breweries over the years including the Courage Brewery that closed in the 90s.

"We are hugely excited about joining the Finzels Reach community, which is fast emerging as a fantastic new quarter for the city,” says Melissa Eavis, who founded Bocabar with her husband Paul 15 years ago.

“It's a great fit for our business as we love the combination of historic and new architecture, giving the area its own unique character, combined with the fact it's in an excellent location right in the heart of the city.”

Bristol-based pop-up Mission Pizza will also trade at the development, partnering with Left Handed Giant to serve food in the craft brewer’s new Finzels Reach brewpub.

Left Handed Giant had planned to partner with Bristol chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, having secured £1m in crowdfunding to open a taproom, brewery and dining space.

However, Left Handed Giant has subsequently decided it needs more space than originally envisaged, meaning the restaurant venture wouldn’t be able to sit alongside it.

In a statement, Left Handed Giant’s operations manager Jack Granger said that the brand remained great friends with Sanchez-Iglesias and his team.

“Whilst we are fully focused on the opening of the brewpub, we’d love the opportunity to work with Peter on future projects,” he added.

It is understood there is still a possibility that the Casamia chef will open at Finzels Reach.

Left Handed Giant is run by former BrewDog operations director Brue Gray, and has been brewing in Bristol since 2015.
