Café Barletta will have 50 covers and take inspiration from European café culture, with Berg working with acting head chef Cavan Power O’Keeffe to oversee the kitchen and Ribbe managing front of house.
Menu choices will include Uova de Raviolo with ricotta, broad beans and chicken jus; smoked brisket ragu served with bone marrow and pappardelle; and skate bacalao with roasted cauliflower, leeks, capers and mustard.
There will be a four-plate lunch offer available priced at £19, allowing diners to try a variety of dishes.
Berg is no stranger to Margate, having launched his Xiringuito pop-up there with former Bistrotheque general manager Conor Sheehan back in summer 2016.
The pair later relocated the ‘moveable restaurant’ to Liverpool, and subsequently Borough Market before ceasing operations permanently.
“I am excited to return to Margate where so many great people are doing great things in food and drink,” he says.
“The summer of 2016 definitely planted the seed in me for future endeavours and I am happy to not only be back in Margate, but Dreamland especially.”
As well as leading all front of house training, Ribbe will also assist with the curation of Cafe Barletta’s wine list and cocktail menu with restaurant manager Milo Egan.
Ribbe set up Ladies of Restaurants in 2016 as a UK based initiative to support women working in hospitality through events and education. She’s also the restaurant fundraiser for Magic Breakfast, a charity that helps provide breakfast to primary and secondary school students across the UK.
