Expanding Indian street food brand Mowgli is to open its first Bristol restaurant later this year.

The group, founded in Liverpool in 2014 by former barrister Nisha Katona, is to take over the PizzaExpress site on the city’s Corn Street for a planned October launch.

Mowgli has been on the expansion trail since securing a £3.45m backing from private equity company Foresight Group in 2017.

It currently operates eight sites across Liverpool, Manchester, Oxford, Nottingham, Birmingham and Sheffield, and is also lining up openings in Cardiff and Leicester for later this year. The group has said an eventual move in to London is part of its strategic plan.

Mowgli was voted Best Value Restaurant Operator - 20 sites and under, at Restaurant magazine's R200 awards last year.
