The 50-cover restaurant will open on 24 May in the market’s North Yard, which is currently undergoing a redevelopment, and will feature an open butchery area where Baba G’s Bhangra burgers will be made from scratch.
Baba G’s new menu will include the brand’s signature pacho’s (poppadom nachos) and chicken tikka nuggets, as well as new additions such as raan lamb, achaar croquettes and spiralized celeriac bhajis.
Drinks will include Indian-inspired milkshakes, spiced with the likes of cardamom and chai, alongside a cocktail menu focussing on Old Fashioneds and spiced rum.
“We started our journey with Camden Market as part of its international street food line up, and so when the opportunity arose to see our brand grow further, the Market seemed like the natural choice,” says Liz Selway, who owns Baba G’s with her partner Alec Owen.
Having operated in market spaces since 2008, Baba G’s secured investment from restaurateurs Atul Kochhar and Jamie Barber after appearing on the 2019 series of Million Pound Menu. However, Selway and Owen have chosen to undertake this new venture independently of both Kochhar and Barber.
