Market Halls Cargo will be spread over 20,000 sq ft of the new workplace and leisure building’s lower floors on Crossrail Place, close to the soon-to-be-opened Elizabeth Line station.
It will have provisions for ‘numerous’ kitchens, seating for 500, two bars, outdoor terraces and a coffee shop.
“Canary Wharf has been on our radar from day one as a perfect location for us,” says Simon Anderson, Market Halls co-founder and chief operating officer.
“We’re going to be the anchor for this new redevelopment, and we feel that what Market Halls offers really suits these kinds of new, exciting developments.
“With the eventual opening of the Elizabeth line, we are very excited to have found the perfect site.”
This summer Market Halls will launch its third London location near Oxford Circus in the building that was once home to BHS.
According to the group, the 37,500 sq ft West End site will be the largest food hall in the country. Spread over three floors, it will have space for 800 seats, 12 independent kitchens and four bars, as well as a terrace with a retractable roof.
Market Halls launched in 2018 and currently operates two London locations, one in Fulham and another opposite Victoria Station. It will open The Hall at the intu Lakeside shopping centre in July.
