The English wine pioneer has introduced a slightly sweeter style of fizz that gives restaurants greater versatility with food pairings.

Nyetimber has added Cuvee Chérie to its range of award-winning English sparkling wines in a bid to challenge the preconceptions around sweeter styles of wine.

The name Cuvee Chérie connects with the translation of chérie as sweetheart, in reference to the refined, contemporary spirit of this wine, and offers a subtle reference to the sweetness which allows this wine to offer greater versatility for intriguing and creative food pairings.

A rejuvenated version of its sparkling Demi-Sec, Cuvee Chérie is produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes from the Nyetimber vineyards in West Sussex and Hampshire.

The wine offers aromas of pure lemon, mineral and honey tones, with a lively palate of sweet lemon offset by crisp acidity and a clean, pure structure.

Although delicious enjoyed on its own, Cuvee Chérie should be paired with a variety of dishes and cuisines to showcase its gastronomic credentials.

The true taste experience begins when pairing Cuvee Chérie with savoury dishes that have gentle spice and fragrance, with the wine being an especially good match with foods from many Asian cuisines.

Pairings with dishes such as tuna belly sashimi, unagi eel or Singaporean laksa will complement the rich flavours and textures of these dishes and be lifted by the freshness and elegance of the wine.

Sweeter dishes, which the wine was initially designed to be served alongside, are of course a natural accompaniment too. Nyetimber also recommends serving Cuvee Chérie as an indulgent accompaniment to a perfectly British afternoon tea or with delicate desserts such as fruit tarts, meringues and possets.

With its enticing balance of sweetness and freshness, Cuvee Chérie is a versatile wine that is the perfect accompaniment to life’s memorable gastronomic moments.

Nyetimber Cuvee Chérie is currently being served at restaurants including Cakes & Bubbles by Albert Adrià, Claude Bosi at Bibendum, Etch, Park Chinois, Roka and Yauatcha City.
