Restaurant and fishmonger group FishWorks is to open a flagship site in Covent Garden next month as part of a wider company rebrand.

The ‘new look’ restaurant will have 110 covers, as well as a 30-cover private dining room and the group’s first dedicated oyster bar.

"We've been looking to add another restaurant to our collection for a while now, but it's really just been a case of being patient until the ideal location became available,” says FishWorks CEO Tom Crowley.

“Catherine Street is perfect for us because of its prime location for tourists and theatregoers as well as Covent Garden residents who want to dine out on the freshest fish, sometimes taking some home. We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved with the design for the restaurant and we hope our guests will really enjoy the new look and feel.”

The regularly changing menu will include spicy blackened Cornish mackerel fillets with chargrilled chicory, tenderstem broccoli and cauliflower puree; and a tasting platter for two of crispy squid, monkfish, halibut, grilled seabass, scallops and mussels, clams and fresh oysters. There will also be set lunch menu, theatre menu and free-flowing prosecco lunch.

FishWorks was founded by chef Mitch Tonks in 1995 and grew to 10 sites, but only four were saved when it was brought out of administration by current owners Boparan Restaurant Group in 2009.

It currently has only two sites remining, in Mayfair and Marylebone.
