Gleneagles Hotel to relaunch Strathearn restaurant
The new look, overseen by the owner Ennismore’s own design studio, is inspired by the golden age of railway travel of the 20s and 30s, when socialites would travel by first-class carriage from London to Gleneagles for the summer season.
Diners are promised an experience that mirrors the theatrical glamour of that era. A traditional gueridon trolley service will be used, allowing staff to carve Scottish smoked salmon, prepare and dress salads, and flambé ‘steak Strathearn’ for guests directly at the table.
The menu, overseen by head chef Jason Hardcastle, will use locally-sourced ingredients be based on classic French cuisine.
“Originally known simply as ‘the Dining Room’, [The Strathearn] has been a destination for decadent dining and lively celebrations since Gleneagles first opened nearly 100 years ago,” says Sharan Pasricha, CEO of Gleneagles and Ennismore.
“It’s been cherished by generations of guests, so we didn’t want to radically change the fabric of the space or the spirit of the experience. Instead, we wanted to take the essence of The Strathearn and turn up the volume.
“By amplifying all the elements that are so well loved – the elegant décor, the history, the lively atmosphere, the culinary theatre and the exceptional food – the team has brought back the vibrancy, energy, playfulness and glamour of fine dining experiences a century ago.”
