Splendid Restaurants has converted its Jack & Alice wine bar sites to a new concept after parting ways with the brand.

The company has relaunched the two sites in Tring and Thame under all-day brand Coluco, which draws its name from coffee, lunch and cocktails.

The Thame site will also a launch cookery school this summer as a sister project to the school at Splendid’s Grand Hotel in York, which opened this month overseen by chef Rob Cottam.

Jack & Alice opened its first restaurant in Gerrard’s Cross, Buckinghamshire in 2015 and expanded to Tring and Thame after securing the backing of Splendid in 2016.

But in a statement on its website the Jack & Alice team said they had decided to leave the Tring and Thame sites to “regain control of our brand”.

Jack & Alice is now down to just one site in Gerrards Cross.
