Plans have been unveiled for a £250m food and leisure attraction that is set to be built near Harrogate in North Yorkshire.

Described by the developer Fallons as a “food-agri park”, the Future Park project is to be run by Italian food hall chain Eataly and is due to open in 2022.

The concept is similar to the company’s Fico Eataly World, which opened in Bologna, Northern Italy, in November 2017 and was dubbed the ‘Disneyland of food’.

Sitting on 188 hectares of land, Future Park is set to contain various restaurants and specialist food counters.

However, over 75% of the land will be agricultural, with British produce at the heart of the project and the developers aiming for it to be the most “sustainable venue of its size in the UK”.

If plans are approved, Future Park will become Eataly’s second site in the UK following its planned opening in Broadgate, London, next year.

Founded in 2004, Eataly currently operates more than 35 sites worldwide, including six in the US.
