MasterChef finalist Larkin Cen is to open his third Woky Ko Asian restaurant in Bristol later this month.

Cen, who made it to the final of the BBC show in 2013, will launch Woky Ko: Kaiju at the CARGO 2 extension of Wapping Wharf on 14 March.

The kitchen will be headed up by chef John Watson, who previously ran Bristol’s Michelin Bib Gourmand-winning No Man’s Grace restaurant.

Woky Ko: Kaiju is inspired by a Japanese Izakaya, with dishes set to include duck meatballs with umeboshi plum ketchup; grilled octopus with sweet chilli; and tantanmen ramen with ground pork and mustard greens.

The 40-cover restaurant will feature eight seats in front of the robata grills so diners can watch the chefs at work.

Cen says: “The addition of John to the Woky Ko family is massively exciting, I’m sure we can teach each other a thing or two!

“It’s also really important to me that we can impart knowledge of another type of Asian cuisine to the chefs we nurture to keep passing on the traditions and art of Asian cooking to this new generation. This is my mission with all the Woky Ko restaurants.”

Cen launched the first Woky Ko in Bristol in 2016, and a second site opened in 2018.
