Asia de Cuba restaurant to close after 20 years
London’s St Martin’s Hotel is to close its Asia de Cuba restaurant after 20 years.

The Chino-Latino dining room opened in Covent Garden in 1999, but will shut for good on 28 February.

It comes ahead of a planned shake-up of food and beverage at the hotel by its US-based owner SBE Entertainment Group, which bought St Martin's parent company Morgans Hotel Group for $82m in 2016.

From 1 March Asia de Cuba will be replaced by a temporary pop-up serving “Asian-inspired” dishes that the hotel says will explore the cuisine of Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.

It will run until later this spring, before closing alongside the hotel’s Blind Spot bar. Both concepts will be replaced by “one of the highly successful brands from the stellar collection of restaurants in SBE hotels”.

SBE, which sold a 50% stake to French hospitality giant AccorHotels last year, also owns the largely US-based Disruptive Restaurant group, which has partnerships with chefs Jose Andres and Michael Schwartz.
