Team UK placed 10th in the 2019 Bocuse d'Or

Team Denmark has won the 2019 Bocuse d’Or following a cook-off in Lyon, France yesterday.

Scandinavia dominated the top spots at the global culinary competition, with Sweden taking the silver medal and Norway winning bronze.

It is only the second time the Danes have taken the gold medal, beating 23 other countries to the award.

Team UK came in tenth place, with Tom Philips from Restaurant Story and commis chef Nathan Lane - formerly of The Ritz - supported by coach Adam Bennet and new Bocuse d’Or UK president Simon Rogan.

This year’s competition - the 17th overall since 1975 - paid tribute to its founder Paul Bocuse, the legendary French chef who passed away in 2018. His son Jerome now oversees the event.

Chefs had five and a half hours to prepare a platter of veal with prime chops, roasted with offal, and a dish of vegetable chartreuse with shellfish.

At the last event in 2017 the United States made history when chef Matthew Peters from Per Se became the first American to win the title, but the country placed ninth this year.
