The Treby Arms gastropub in Devon has closed just over a year after it lost its Michelin star.

The pub shut its doors on 14 January with owner Jamie Stevenson – who took over last summer – telling Plymouth Live it had struggled with a ‘lack of trade’.

The Treby Arms won a star under MasterChef: The Professionals champion Anton Piotrowski in 2014, but lost the accolade following his departure in 2017.

It moved away from fine dining in 2018, dropping its tasting menu for a more casual a la carte offer, but the relaunch failed to improve trade.

A statement posted to The Treby Arms’ social media accounts said: “We are very sad to announce that today The Treby Arms closed her doors. We are currently speaking with a number of interested parties to take over this beautiful village pub.

“We feel strongly that it should be owner occupied and hope that locals will support the future Treby and enable it to keep its doors open and return to being a key feature within the community.”

Since leaving The Treby Arms Piotrowski has opened Roski in Liverpool, which is recommended in the Michelin guide but does not hold a star.
